Meeting Topic: Information Literacy Assessment Committee

  2. Updates from Assessment Steering Committee
    1. Assessment canvas course - our contribution - what should we build? volunteers?
    2. other training materials? - should we build pre/post test on canvas for easy admin?
    3. Syllabus statement about assessment
    4. Spring activity, “You have data, now what?”
    5. Possible changes to assessment committee structure. 1 assessment committee and 14 department assessment coordinators
  3. Updates from any other departments doing Info Lit Assessment?
    • English – they are interpreting their results now (having assessed ENG101/102 last year) and will be recommending action

    • Counseling – they are designing instrument for assessing one-on-one sessions with students (referrals to social services, for instance). Elena met with counseling faculty the week of Sept. 16 to discuss further. Jan Binder also attended.

    • Behavioral Science – Andrea will follow up with Marian.

    • Biology – Elena will follow up.

    • Liberal Arts – they are also interpreting results.

    • Health/Wellness – Elena called to their dept meeting Sept 30

    • Communication, ESL, Education – they are looking at info literacy. CRE courses, though, will only be looking at critical thinking.
